About Us

Through every stage of struggle, we’re already here.

Founded in 1955 to fill a vital gap in care, North London Bikur Cholim has grown into a cornerstone of community support. We’ve seen how illness, disability, and ageing can unravel a life, and we’ve learned how small acts of care can stitch it back together.

After seventy years, our mission hasn’t softened. We’re still here, meeting people where they are, easing what hurts, restoring what’s been lost, and proving that care, when it’s given with heart, can change everything.

OUR REACH

How we identify those who need our support.

GP Practices

Local GPs may identify issues during routine appointments and refer cases to NLBC via their practice’s social commissioner.

Local Authorities

Referrals come through Social Care Services, Disabled Children’s Services, and Occupational Therapists who identify families in need of additional support.

Schools and SENCOs

Referrals often come through schools and Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs), especially for families with children requiring additional support.

Partner Charities

Close coordination with other charitable organisations, including Ezer Leyoldos, Acheinu Cancer Support, Lev Echod, Ezra Lemarpeh, Hatzalah, and Beis Bracha.

Community Activists or Representatives

Collaboration with local community activists and lay leaders who are often the first to identify individuals requiring support.

Word of Mouth

A trusted reputation within the community leads to frequent referrals through informal networks.
